False Earthstar Pendant
False Earthstar Pendant
astraeus hygrometricus
When young, the false earthstar resembles a puffball that splits open into a star shape as it grows older. The earthstar will respond to humidity by opening its rays to expose the spore sac to more water or close its rays in drier conditions. Its rays have a cracked surface texture. The fleshy spore bearing ball is initially white but turns powdery and brown when the spores mature.
Each fungi pendant is a study in glass of a specific mushroom that interests me. I try to create the colors and details accurate to each species. A meaningful and unique piece for a fungi nerd or aspiring mycologist. *Chain is not included
